Legato Bluesummers

we should have died a very long time ago, you and I...

Legato is a complicated character who deserves to be played correctly, so please leave me a note on whether or not you think I'm doing him justice! Positive feedback and constructive criticism both welcome, and please be as detailed as possible. I really want to know how you think I'm doing! Comments are screened, and IP-free, of course.

So... even with Luceti's power-restricting thing, Legato can still be kind of a godmode.
It would really help me out to have a little cheat-sheet here, of permissions for typical encounters with characters.
I'll ask permissions in the ooc comm for larger, more specific things... so this is more to serve as a go-to list when running into your character.

Mother, may I?... )

Thanks in advance!

[...water is falling out of the sky.

There is water. Falling out of the sky.

And there is a lot of it.

He'd been following the other boy in a vague sense for a few days now, keeping an eye on him, tagging along at a distance without anything more meaningful to do. The other kid was the only person in this whole bizarre world that he had found any sort of familiarity with; the following had just kind of happened-- staying away from the adults, repeatedly sneaking away from any of the places he'd been offered to stay... and just kind of gravitating back toward something partially familiar.

Today, however, it's become a little difficult to stay back at a nice undetectable distance with all this... water falling out of the sky. He's following closer, more than a little horrified at the inexplicable weather, frantically ducking from one sheltered overhang to the next as he trails along behind him...

...Until he notices that the boy is in the process of sneaking into a building. And, after a moment of indecisively loitering in place, the feel of buzzing pinpoints against his mind tell him that it is not an empty building.

Anxiously, he edges out of his hiding place around the corner and calls out, his voice both nervously hushed and trying to hiss over the noise of the rain at the same time--]

--Hey... hey!

((ooc: backdated to the last big rain. Anyone is welcome to come across two social failures around town as chibi!Legato and chibi!Livio try to hide from the big scary rain and big scary crowds at the same time))

[the journal falls open to the sound of a gasp and a metallic clattering, and the camera might just pick up a glimpse of a boy with long blue hair falling to the ground and scrambling backwards, iron shackles on his wrists jangling like oversized bracelets.

It takes him some time to realize that everything around him is quiet, nothing is coming after him, and he eventually uncurls from his huddled place against the wall. The room he's in seems to be empty and unused, maybe an apartment of some kind, so... he goes to the window.

And there, he sees what looks like people milling around in town outside... in really bizarre costumes.

...He's now mostly sure that he's finally truly lost his mind.

So, since there's nothing in this room that offers any answers, and he's fairly sure he shouldn't be in here... he slips outside]

((ooc: Backdated to the 26th! Legato isn't effected by the fairytale crazies, but he is a terrified trauma-bucket of a kid. Just perfect for fairytaled adults to freak him out. Feel free to run into him anywhere in town as he's sneaking around))

[confident that he finally has the strength required to make the trip, Legato begins the journey up the mountain, finally returning to the lair that has been sitting in some months of neglect. Traveling to clear his mind, work some life back into what feels like a rapidly crumbling shell. He needs to get back to work. He needs to find his place again. And, finally, he believes that he knows where to begin...]

Are you busy?

[it has been some time, hmm? Though, you wouldn't be able to tell this face from Legato's casual tone] ...I never properly thanked you, did I?

I can hear you
[info]endthem
[there is no audio today, aside from the pleasant murmur of town-sounds, and the video is purely accidental. Legato has the journal propped open nearby while he lounges in the sun on the edge of town.

...Because that is exactly what someone who was recently released from the hospital should be doing-- still bound in bandages and a sling, sitting around under the glaring face of the sun during an especially sweltering day.

At least he doesn't seem to mind the heat; eyelids lowered to lazy slits, his mind somewhere far away, he
soaks up the summer like a basking lizard.]

[he'd been in and out for the past few days, but today is the first that he considers himself truly awake. With the lingering weakness from his surgery weeks ago, it has taken him agonizingly longer than usual to regain consciousness. And once he finally does, more than the pain, it is the unfamiliar surroundings that strike him. ...This isn't the clinic that he's used to.

--And then come the memories. It isn't until he glances down to see the bandages and immobilized right arm that he recalls what brought him here.

He can't help but laugh a little to himself. Absurd.

At least he doesn't drop the journal this time, as he reaches over to retrieve it with his automail--and currently only free--arm.]

Here again. I really should be more careful, shouldn't I?

[a minute to two goes by, then. Stewing in the kind of silent outrage that he's gotten so used to enduring these past handful of months. When he does speak again, none of it reaches his voice. Only a detached tone of amusement] --I won't fight you this time, Vash, if you would like to try again.

[and then, much more generally]

If they can take that which defines us, what does that leave us with? [a hesitation where he considers going on. But... speaking really does hurt. And his weakened morale is sinking. So--] ...And where am I?

((ooc: Legato's a little out of it and in the hospital... again. The battledome, this time. Open over the journal or two anyone in the battledome clinic))

Legato

[he shouldn't be trying to use his arm yet-- he knows this fact; it hasn't even been twenty-four hours since the surgery. The pain is severe enough to warrant a distraction however, so he goes for the journal. ...Unfortunately, the thing is resting off to his left, making it only reachable by one shiny brand-new limb.

So... the residents are soon treated to the sudden wild spinning view of a clinic room over the camera, as the journal tumbles open and hits the ground-- followed by a soft sound of annoyance.

Just perfect.

After sending the thing one exhausted glare, he lays back in the clinic bed again and lets his mind wander-- quite literally. If he can't find entertainment via the journal, then he's just going to have to put forth a little effort into a different avenue of distraction. Shutting his eyes against the feel of the heavy metal appendage hanging on his muscles and skeleton and nerves, he lets the range of his mind expand. Reaching for and exploring nearby presences as they light up in his mind. Testing himself, focusing on the curiosity of whether or not he can recognize them as they come into 'view,' tracking their movements as they go about their business.]

((ooc: he might not answer over the journal, being that it's laying on the ground and he feels like shit. But very open to anyone around the clinic, even if they don't actually go in to see him-- he can see you. He'll be watching for days, so also open to people who might be in the area on different days this week))
